Mahalo to the Emergency Management Community for your service during Hurricane Lane

August 30, 2018

PDC wants to send a sincere Mahalo to the entire emergency management community for their efforts in response to Hurricane Lane and the Maui Fires. PDC was established in the wake of Hurricane Iniki with the intent of ensuring that emergency managers have access to the best disaster management science and technology. Although we have grown to be a global leader in disaster risk management, our hearts and home are in Hawaii.

That is why when Lane approached we were happy to be able to assist local, state, federal, and DOD partners in meeting the challenge. Now that Lane has passed, our eyes and resourses are focused on our friends on the Big Island who continue to respond to the flooding and damage caused by this event and the recent volcanic eruptions.

No disaster is ever managed by just one agency, but those of us in Hawaii understand that as the most remote island chain in the world, it is even more important for us to collectively work together as a community to protect our Ohana. That is why we would like to recognize key partners of ours that we had the pleasure of working with in response to this most recent events. Thank you.
