CURRENT TROPICAL CYCLONES:

There’s a tropical disturbance, being referred to as
Invest 98W, which is located approximately 235 NM northwest of Palau
According to the JTWC, satellite imagery shows a low level low level circulation, with weak, fragmented formative banding to the south.
Invest 98W is in a favorable environment for development, with low <15 knot wind shear, good equatorward outflow, and warm sea surface temperatures.
Global models are in general agreement that the disturbance will continue to consolidate as it tracks northwestward, crosses Luzon, Philippines, and further intensifies in the South China Sea.
Maximum sustained surface winds are estimated at 15-20 knots.
The potential for the development of a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is
low.
