Tropical Cyclone 02W (Nuri)…is located approximately 126 NM west-southwest of Hong Kong – Final Warning




>>> This system first developed into a tropical depression during the middle of the week and was given the name Butchoy by the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) before making landfall.
According to PAGASA, as of late Thursday afternoon local time, the storm had made two landfalls in the Philippines. The first landfall occurred over Polillo, located in the province of Quezon, and the second occurred over Infanta, Quezon.
Significant strengthening was hindered on Friday, as the storm tracked across the mountainous terrain of the northern Philippines.
Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches were common across Luzon to end the week. Manila reported the highest total with 5.56 inches.
The last tropical cyclone to develop in the West Pacific basin was Typhoon Vongfong, also known as Ambo in the Philippines. The typhoon forced 50,000 people from their homes, after causing devastating flooding and widespread power outages across the northern Philippines…during the middle of May.
