In the aftermath of natural disasters like the Sumatra earthquake and Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005, PDC serves as a bridge between the scientific and decision making communities by integrating the latest science, technology, and information products. PDC offers support for the disaster management process, helping to coordinate and integrate information for mitigation, preparedness, relief, and recovery to save lives and reduce losses.
